Worship notes:
The italicized dates are our special services for the month. Our midweek Advent theme is: Angel Announcements. The angel Gabriel appeared to Zechariah and then Mary; Joseph was visited by an unnamed angel in a dream. Each teaches us something about the Savior to be born. We carry this theme into Christmas Eve, as an angel announces the good news of Jesus’ birth to the Bethlehem shepherds. A whole host of angels join in praise. The first and third of our midweek services will be at 4:30pm. The second service is in conjunction with our annual Advent dinner at 5:30pm in the Commons.
Christmas Eve, we have three services. Both the 2:00pm & 6:30pm services are the same and end in candlelight. The Sunday School’s Christmas Eve service is at 4:30 and will again be in the chapel. We hold our Christmas Day service the next morning at 9:30am. While Christmas Eve is quieter and more ponderous, Christmas Day is more joyous.
The Sunday after Christmas, December 28, we will have only one morning service at 9:30am. This makes more sense since there is no Sunday School or Bible class. We join together as one body and celebrate the Lord’s Supper.
Finally, we close our year in worship New Year’s Eve, 4:30pm. It is also a communion service.

Worship
Each worship service is a blessed opportunity for the family of God to get together and listen to the Word of the Lord as well as pray and praise God together. As the psalmist wrote, there is such joy whenever we join our hearts together in worship: "I rejoiced with those who said to me, 'Let us go to the house of the Lord'!" (Psalm 122:1)
Our services follow a "Path of Worship" which is printed out for everyone who attends. This makes the service easy to follow for members and visitors alike. We sing a wonderful blend of favorite Christian hymns as well as newer Christian songs. Each week we have a theme founded in God's Word and reinforced by our musical choices. This nurtures our members in their faith even as it introduces new visitors to the joys of God's grace.
And there is strength to be found gathering together in the presence of God. The writer to the Hebrews advises us to worship regularly not just for the praise of the Lord but also for mutual encouragement, because each day this world becomes more discouraging. (See Hebrews 10:22-25, but especially verse 25)
