Children who are five years old by September
1 may enroll in the kindergarten class. This class is designed to prepare
the children to function successfully in the increasingly structured atmosphere
of first grade. The more challenging kindergarten activities develop many
important skills, such as beginning reading and writing, adding and subtracting,
telling time, and the use of computers. The science curriculum blends knowledge
and processes to awaken a sense of wonder and excitement. In social studies,
the students gain knowledge of the past and of other cultures. In addition,
the children also develop their physical skills, participate in art experiences,
and improve their organizational and study skills. The small class size
allows the teacher to spend time working individually with each student.
