Camp
History |
|
Coach Tim Mueller had been running summer basketball camps locally for
several years, when he decided to try using them as an outreach tool. By
incorporating daily devotions, he could help his players leave the camps
better equipped not only for basketball games, bur for life in general. |

2005 |
|
In 2005, Tim was asked to “take the show on the road.” Dale Mueller of WELS
Kingdom Workers suggested that the Path to Victory Camp be used for mission
outreach in New Mexico, specifically on the Navajo Reservation.
Dale accompanied Tim and his family, as they presented the basketball camp
in Farmington, N.M., and in Upper Fruitland on the Reservation. Local
organization in Farmington was done by Pastor Jim Fleming of
Christ the Rock Lutheran
Church. Click here for photos. |

In June of 2006, the Muellers took the camp to Tucson, AZ, where they worked
with Pastor Mark Jacobson of Redeemer Lutheran Church &
School. The camps were held at a public middle
school, and the Parents Night scrimmage games and ice cream social brought
the families to the Redeemer Campus. In addition, the Muellers traveled
from Tucson to Farmington (via the Grand Canyon), where they assisted Christ
the Rock with their camp on the Reservation. Click

The Muellers
traveled back to the Southwest in 2007, to conduct the camp in the Phoenix
area. Pastor Daylo from
Grace Lutheran Church & School
in Glendale secured a public elementary school for the camps.
Principal Matt Herbst and Arizona Lutheran Academy teacher Joel Burmeister
also were instrumental in making the camp a success. As in 2006, the
Parents Night scrimmage games and ice cream social were again held on the
campus of Grace Lutheran Church and School, in order to allow parents to
tour the facility and enjoy fellowship with other members of Grace.
After the Glendale
camps, the Muellers teamed up with Pastor Jeff Gunn of
CrossWalk Ministries in Phoenix
to present the camps at Arizona
Lutheran Academy. Additional coaching help was provided by Jeremy
Dietrich, a public school teacher and member of CrossWalk Ministries.

In June, the Muellers worked with Pastor Ben
Blumer at Bethlehem Lutheran
Church in Lakeville, MN. Many volunteers from the congregation
helped to make the camp successful, and over 50 children heard the Gospel
message. The Minnesota Timberwolves Mascot, "Crunch", made a guest
appearance at the Parents Night & Ice Cream Social, where he participated in
basketball drills, signed autographs, and posed for pictures. Click

The Path to Victory
Camp was also presented in Wildomar, CA, where the Muellers worked with
Pastor Michael Schroeder of Living Hope Lutheran Church. The camp was
held at California Lutheran High School, which also provided a great group
of students to assist with the camp. |
